The most common dimension used in the English measuring system is pounds per hour. A one ton boiler would be able to make 2,000 lbs of steam per hour. The actual amount of water inside in a one ton boiler can vary by manufacturer, but is not a performance measurement. I'd guess 10–15 gallons.
